Madonna vs. Lady Gaga: “Reductive is the New Black”

ReductiveBy Michael Fitzgerald Troy

It seems as if the world at large is clamoring for a war between Madonna and Lady Gaga, and after calling Gaga’s music “reductive” during her 20/20 interview, the world at large just may have gotten their wish.

All my reader – I mean readers – know that I am a huge Lady Gaga fan, having created a Going Gaga! Lady Gaga tribute comic and also contributing to Bluewater Productions’ The Fame line Lady Gaga biocomic. It should come as no surprise that I am a bigger Madonna fan. I was even maliciously referred to as “That Madonna freak” in high school. Don’t cry for me, Argentina; I’m sure those cretins will come to a bad end.

As much as I love LG, I would never publicly speak against Madonna. That would be like pissing off Hera or Darth Vader.

Gaga left a bad taste in my mouth after her Drag King performance at the VMAs . Don’t fret, Steph, I’ll always love you; us Capricorns are as loyal as we are stubborn, but that was a bit much even for your crazy ass.

Up until this point, Madonna has been deliciously ambiguous, yet supportive, of Gaga, but I suppose now that she is gearing up for a movie, a new record, and a half-time performance at that football thingie coming up, a little friendly feud with the top o’ the pops doesn’t hurt. Madonna delivered in usual form by saying Gaga’s music was reductive when pressed on her opinion of her alleged successor. Geez, I haven’t learned a new word from Madonna since “pedantic.” Pedantic? Look it up.

Michael Troy is a deeply superficial person. Born in the midwest in the ’70s, Michael came to Los Angeles to pursue his bi-polar career path as an actor and artist. 2005 saw the release of Michael’s first published book, Homo-Hero’s Big Book of Fun and Adventure (www.greencandypress.com). Michael has contributed to the Lady Gaga comic book from Bluewater Productions and has his hand in various other upcoming projects. Michael has performed stand-up comedy at all of the major comedy clubs in Los Angeles and is making his triumphant return to the main stage of The Comedy Store in September. Michael offers an off-beat sense of humor as the star of such youtube cult classics As The Gays on Film (www.youtube.com/fullfrontaltv), A Minute With Margot, a loving tribute to Superman legend Margot Kidder (http://www.youtube.com/user/rktcommander), and currently hosts a vlog style series Lethally Blonde over at www.monsterburg.com. Sitting alongside industry heavyweight Phil Jimenez at the “Divas and Lassoes” panel for the 2010 San Diego comic-con, Michael maintains and cherishes his “underground” status. A staunch believer in Blonde Ambition, Michael hopes his new comic about shallow blonde super heroes in Los Angeles, The Blonde Squad, will set the world on fire (or at least brighten it a bit). Check out Michael Troy and Lethally Blonde updates here!!!
