#CrowdfundingFridays: ‘Science!,’ ‘Mini Minority Monsters,’ and ‘The Mechanic’

Here at Fanbase Press, we strive to provide an outlet for up-and-coming creators to promote and showcase their incredible works. With thousands of creators utilizing crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to make those works a reality, we will highlight these talented creators and their noteworthy campaigns through #CrowfundingFridays! We hope that you will join us in giving these projects a moment of your time (and possibly your support)!

Project #1: Science!
What it’s about: Welcome to Science!, an 80-page, middle-grade original graphic novel written by husband-and-wife team, Jason Inman and Ashley Victoria Robinson. This graphic novel will feature art by illustrator Dez Pittman, color art by Gehenna: Death Valley creator Becka Kinzie, and letters by Ghost Glyph Studio’s Taylor Esposito, edited by Hope Nicholson (Angel Catbird, Moonshot), and will be published by the multiple Eisner-nominated publisher, Bedside Press (The Secret Loves of Geek Girls, Gothic Tales of Haunted Love). Science! is the story of Tamsin Kuhn Trakroo, a fourteen-year-old girl who is already the smartest Theoretical and Applied Physicist in any room. Yeah, she’s that super smart! Tamsin has just started studying at The Prometheus Institute which is only the world’s most famous and prestigious science school. The Institute is a futuristic wonderland filled with genius teachers (some who might not be of this world), and floating helper robots known as S.T.A.T.s.

Project #2: Mini Minority Monsters
What it’s about: Want to learn about the not-so-invisible Bisexual Unicorn, the secrets of the Asexual Succubus, or the fathoms of the Genderqueer Merperson? Well come on down to Alphabet Soup Land and challenge Myth-conceptions with Mini Minority Monsters, a traveler’s guide to gender and sexuality in an easy to carry paperback.
The coolest backer reward: The project is mainly to fund the book, but also includes an Adopt-a-Monster tier, where you get a print of your favorite creature, framed with a “My Minority Monster” golden plaque and adoption certificate on the back. I included it because while I love buying artist prints, I never get around to framing them myself and they tend to just sit in a big folder gathering dust!

Project #3
: The Mechanic
What it’s about: The Mechanic follows its title character as he contemplates his life and how it will be remembered. It is a dark, psychological character study revolving around the theme of how the routines of a mundane life come into conflict with the desire to leave a lasting impact on the world.
