#GeeksCare: How You Can Help RPG Kitchen to Defeat Hunger

When Fanbase Press is not providing you with the latest in geek news and entertainment, the Fanbase Press staff hopes to offer our readers a myriad of opportunities to give back to the community. We love reading comics, watching movies, and playing video games, but we are never happier than when we are able to help others in need. With Geeks Care: How You Can Help, Fanbase Press will provide you a variety of causes that would greatly appreciate your time.

For the latest edition of Geeks Care: How You Can Help, the Fanbase Press staff would like to highlight RPG Kitchen, an organization that not only provides a platform for role-playing game fans and creators to congregate, create, and play new games with one another, but it also donates one third of its proceeds to charities that feed the hungry.  RPG Kitchen is a great example of the positive force for good that our geeky community can and should embrace, and we applaud their efforts to help and change the world around them - in the geekiest ways possible!

According to RPG Kitchen's website, the organization is "a kitchen… for RPGs. A friendly gathering point for the RPG-obsessed, where content creators (we call them cooks – obviously) and players can just… marinate in glorious gameplay."  The site also provides opportunities for RPG creators to develop, play-test, share, and monetize their game creations.  They are "building a community that helps creators bring their worlds to life and gives players the RPG fix they crave - using modern technology to improve the RPG experience for everyone."

By providing one third of its subscription fee proceeds to non-profit organizations like Action Against Hunger and the rest to providing assistance and resources to independent creators, RPG Kitchen is a wonderful and integral part of geekdom.  We encourage you to check out RPG Kitchen to learn more and to garner the opportunity not only to revel in your love of RPGs, but to help your community.

If you have a volunteer opportunity or an important cause that could use the assistance of a few geeks, please email the details to barbra (at) fanbasepress (dot) com.
