Fanbase Press’ Geeky Love Letters: A Love Letter to Wonder Woman

Love is in the air at Fanbase Press! In this magical month of romance and enchantment, the FP Staff and Contributors decided to stop and smell the roses. Throughout the week of Valentine’s Day, a few members of the Fanbase Press crew will be sharing their personal love letters to the areas of geekdom they adore the most.

Dearest Diana,

To my beloved Wonder Woman. Though I feel it would seem more than apparent how much I openly and genuinely love you from the depths of my heart, I don’t wish to take that for “granite” (Poor choice of words, given your god-given beginning.), but you’ll pardon the pun I’m sure.

Be sure it was love at first sight on our family’s glorious, massive, 27″ technicolor tubular technology. When Lynda Carter transformed from gorgeous, dutiful, and coyly intelligent yeoman to star-spangled heroine, doing her amazing Amazon feats before my little, blue peepers, how could I not be in love?

Did I know it would be a lifelong love? Not really, but I’m a romantic at heart, so I had hopes. But you always show up when I need you. The universe always throws me a golden lasso just when I need it to cheer up, escape, or just plain enjoy the pleasure your adventures have given me over the years. Whether it’s Superfriends, Justice League Action, or Gal Gadot’s stunning version, I don’t think I’ve met a Wonder Woman who hasn’t stolen my heart.

But it’s not just your fabled strength and god-given gifts that I so admire, not to say those things aren’t lovely. Not only do you embody, but you embolden what it means to be a woman and a human being in the admirable guise of a demi-godddess.

So, is it Diana, or Wonder Woman… or Lynda Carter that I so love? The answer is “Yes.”

So, that’s part of the many varied reasons I love you. On my journey, I have learned there are others who share my love of you, and there is joy in sharing that love, because you represent so many things to so many people and have plenty to offer all. So, I do love you, Wonder Woman. As I know you love me, with purity and no judgment.

For now and always, with all of my heart,
Michael Fitzgerald Troy
