Dear Jack Shephard,

You were wrong.
You were wrong, but that's okay.
It wasn't your fault!

To Masters Jacen and Anakin and Mistress Jaina,

Hey, kids. I don't really know where to start here, but I knew I had to write something. Since Alderaan's destruction, the folks who were off-world have instituted a new tradition, their "Return." I don't mean to appropriate the tradition, I've always been a simple man, but I felt if that's a tradition that can be had from the ending of a world, what then could I do at the ending of the universe?

My beloved Edge of Tomorrow,

Even though your creators later changed your name to Live. Die. Repeat., I will always think of you as the name you had when we first met.  You reassured me that American movie studios were still capable of producing science fiction films that had tight, concise stories that ended instead of continually providing sequel bait.  I realize you were based on a novel, which helps keep the plot under control, but you take the words from the page and make them live.

Dear Harry Potter,

Yes. I know your name is Daniel Radcliffe. And yes, you are an amazing actor. Seriously! I saw you in The Cripple of Inishmaan on Broadway. Front row. We locked eyes during one of your big monologues, and I nearly wet my pants.  I was blown away by your performance. Always have been. I’m sure I always will. But, I just can’t stop thinking about you as “the boy who lived.”

Dear Grimlock, Snarl, Slag, Sludge, and Swoop,

I like dinosaurs.

Actually, saying I like dinosaurs is similar to saying Charlie Sheen likes adult beverages. It’s a bit of an understatement. In fact, I can pretty much remember loving the now-extinct giant lizards ever since I could walk around on my own two feet. There is something inherently appealing to 5 year olds about the idea of large, colorful reptiles that stomped around the Earth, kicking the crap out of each other, and I was not immune to their allure. While most boys within my age demographic adopted the T-Rex as their most beloved dino – for obvious reasons – the plant-eating Stegosaurus quickly took the mantle as my favorite thunder lizard. There was just something about the symmetrically shaped armor plates that stood up on end along the creature’s back that I found absolutely mesmerizing. Oh yeah, and the ginormous, 3-foot-long tail spikes the over-sized reptile used to fend off enemies may have had a little something to do with it, too.

Dearest Naughty Dog,

I’ve sat on this letter for a very long time, trying to figure out how to write it without sounding like the crazy, stalker gamer girl you turned me into after I first played Uncharted. But, I don’t think it’s possible to write such a love letter. So, instead, I’ll tell you how Uncharted came into my life, how it has influenced me, how it has affected me, and try not to have you take out a restraining order against me, so I can’t come within 200 yards of Nathan Drake ever again.

Dear THAC0,

To Hit Armor Class 0. What an elegant system you were, giving definition to that which truly cannot be defined. You took the very absence of anything and made it achievable. You could touch 0, you could touch it critically, and even further yet . . . you could make us touch things that couldn't even be real. You made us able to hit things so agile and armored that no real number could calculate it.

Dearest BBC’s Sherlock,

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, mind mother to the inspiration of your creation, was once quoted as saying, "We can't command our love, but we can our actions.” It is with this in mind that I pen an ode to your brilliance, your beauty, and the sweet torture that is your absence.

Dearest Dr. Bishop,

How many ways do I love you, Walter Bishop?  There are an infinite number of reasons multiplied by an infinite number alternate Walters in parallel universes.  There are positive qualities and negative qualities, all blending together to make you one of the most complex, endlessly delightful, maddeningly frustrating, achingly vulnerable, frighteningly dangerous characters in all of TV.
