Given the positive impact of the Eisner Awards, their importance to the comic book industry, and Fanbase Press' own mission to “Celebrate Fandoms,” Fanbase Press will soon re-launch its "Countdown to the Eisners" series on Wednesday, May 29, 2019. With "Countdown to the Eisners," we will highlight each of the Eisner Awards' 31 nomination categories, providing comic book industry members and readers alike the opportunity to learn more about the nominees and their work. In addition, Fanbase Press will again live-tweet the 2019 Eisner Award Ceremony from the Hilton Bayfront Hotel at San Diego Comic-Con through the Fanbase Press Twitter (@Fanbase_Press) account. Every year for the past six years, various folks that are part of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. host a panel at WonderCon to discuss recent and future activities with the different Edgar Rice Burroughs properties. For 2019, the panel was moderated by Scott Tracy Griffin (author, Tarzan: The Centennial Celebration) and included Jim Sullos (president, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc.), Christopher Paul Carey (author, Swords Against the Moon Men), Thomas Yeates (Tarzan comics artist), and Robert de Young (filmmaker, Tarzan Revisited) talking about their different projects, new projects from Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., and even spotlighting projects done by other companies.
While there is little concrete news about the future of the Alien franchise in a post-Disney/Fox merger world, the series does currently live on in licensed comic books, video games, and, most notably, an upcoming set of six cinematic shorts being released weekly on IGN, starting this Friday, March 29th, 2019.
