Where in the ‘Verse are we? Well, Mal is still playing Sheriff, righting wrongs and ironically bringing justice to the deserted rock. Zoe and some of the crew are trying to find a new homeland for the Browncoats, an effort that is being bankrolled by the Chang-Benitez Gang. Meanwhile, Blue Sun has been investing heavily in surveillance tech and building their own militia to safeguard their interests. Welcome to Blue Sun Rising.

Quick recap time: The last time we checked in with the whole gang, Fred became the host of Baphomet. Meanwhile, Detective Kate Lockley was somewhat inducted into the fold, and her connection to Angel’s past appears to be lurking just beneath the surface.

Quick recap: Mal had imprisoned the Chang-Benitez Gang to protect them from the overzealous and vastly overpowered Blue Sun militia. That’s until the Bandit King broke them out, seemingly playing a game of cat-and-mouse with the good sheriff, and taking the heat for the various capers of the Chang-Benitez gang. Except, plot twist, the Bandit King is none other than Mal!

Quick recap: After killing Beowulf, who should come knocking at Bridgette’s retirement community but the infamous Grendel. While Bridgette is a tough, old broad, is she a match for the monster?

Quick recap: While something is seemingly off about Abhainn, Willow seems to have found a deep connection and sense of belonging in the community. But, at what cost?

Hello, gentle readers. We’re still in the “Ring of Fire” arc, so let’s check in real quick on where our favorite Slayer of the Vampyrs was. After the Hellmouth opened and Buffy hopped in to deal with it, another Slayer, Kendra, was Called. In order to save Buffy, Kendra and others descended into the Hellmouth, and they all emerged victorious. For now. Xander was lost, and Willow decided to take some time for herself. Buffy and Kendra are both currently under the watchful(?) eye of Rupert Giles, but there are some learning curves when the Chosen One is now the Chosen Ones. On top of everything, Anya warned Giles of the existence of a multiverse of Hellmouths… perhaps too many for even two Slayers to safeguard against. There, all caught up on the important stuff.

After the dramatic turn of events and possible realignment of Team Angel, we take a breather and go back to a moment in Angel’s past. Angel does what he tends to do best: saving souls in need of aid. This time around, it’s a case involving an actress friend and the mystery of who killed her and why.

Quick recap of “New Sheriff in the ‘Verse” so far: The Chang-Benitez gang came up against the Bandit King and refused his protection for a cut of their takings. Mal arrested them in order to protect them from Blue Sun’s massively overpowered enforcers, but the merry trio are busted out of jail… by the Bandit King.

Quick recap: Prepare yourself for some epic irony. Duncan and Bridgette kill Beowulf. So… who should come knocking at Bridgette’s door but the monster that Beowulf slew in the poem. If you know, you know.

Blood in the Mirror is an anthology of seven horror stories that center loosely around the theme of mirrors. Each writer’s tale is unique, and the stories range from imaginative retellings of folk tales to exorcisms, exploring pasts and futures through a genre lens that is less restricted than one would think, often contextualizing the term “horror” in their own right.
