‘Bullet Gal #11:’ Advance Comic Book Review

We’re nearing the end of the Bullet Gal saga. After this one, there’s only one issue left. That being the case, things are really coming full circle. As I’ve mentioned numerous times before, all of Andrez Bergen’s works fit together like a giant puzzle. If you’ve read his novels, Who Is Killing the Great Capes of Heropa? and Depth Charging Ice Planet Goth, then Bullet Gal #11 is a gigantic puzzle piece.

After having been near-fatally wounded around Christmas and spending the last few issues in the hospital, Mitzi, a.k.a. Bullet Gal, is finally awake and back in action. Her enemies think she’s dead, which will help to keep her safe. They also have a dastardly plan that they want to enact. Fortunately, Lee, Bullet Gal’s friend/mentor, has plans of his own to thwart all the various evil factions in the city and save Heropa once and for all.

I thoroughly enjoyed this issue. I had, in fact, read it before, during the course of reviewing the complete Bullet Gal graphic novel. Still, upon rereading it, I found it every bit as satisfying as the first time. I gasped in all the same spots, cheered in all the same spots, and generally had a good time.

Enjoyment of these comics is not dependent on having read Bergen’s other works; however, particularly in this issue, it does help. They’re all very good and definitely worth your time. So, first read Who Is Killing the Great Capes of Heropa? Then, read Depth Charging Ice Planet Goth. Then, come back and read the Bullet Gal comics from the beginning. Or, if you want, just read Bullet Gal. It’s a fun read either way.
