‘City: The Mind in the Machine #4’ – Advance Comic Book Review

The fourth and final (for now, at least) chapter in this tale of surveillance, paranoia, and ultimate power ends in an epic showdown for control of the city—which leaves much of the city in ruins by the end of it. Ben, our intrepid hero who can control all of San Francisco’s systems with his mind, faces an army of drones sent to bring him down. As the minds behind the entire surveillance experiment go after not only him, but also his friends, people he cares about, and innocent bystanders, Ben is all that stands between them and a total police state.

This is a pretty good conclusion to what’s been an interesting comic. There’s action, mayhem, tragedy, romance, and more. Plus, it finally addresses head on some of the questions it’s been asking since the first issue about security vs. privacy. It doesn’t exactly draw any groundbreaking conclusions or generate a lot of discussion on the matter, but it comes full circle, at least. If you’ve been reading City: Mind in the Machine since the beginning, you’ll want to check out Issue #4 to see the conclusion to this roller coaster ride of a story.
