Wormwood Creators Bring New Life to Comic Book Miniseries

Recently, Jeremy Rogers and David Accampo announced they were creating a comic book miniseries with artist Jared Souza based off of their audio drama, Wormwood.  Wormwood was a serialized occult mystery that followed parapsychologist Dr. Xander Crowe, as he investigated the strange goings-on in the small town of Wormwood, California.  Many compare it to the television series Twin Peaks or The X-Files for its use of both supernatural and mystery elements.  Wormwood lasted for three seasons and has deservedly earned a lot of praise for its storytelling, memorable characters, and snappy dialogue.

The new miniseries, titled Sparrow & Crowe: The Demoniac of Los Angeles, is a prequel, telling the story referenced in the series about one of Crowe’s biggest failures, where he has to deal with a possessed girl, an ancient demon, and the LA mob.  Accampo and Rogers are working with Hermes Press to get the comic out for an early 2012 release date.  Through Kickstarter, the team is in the process of raising $4,000 by November 24th as a means of getting the project off the ground.  As of this writing, they’ve already raised $3,100.  Those who donate certain amounts can choose from a variety of rewards, including a special thank you mentioned in the comics, original scripts from Wormwood, a soundtrack from the series, and even a few items from the Hermes Press Catalog.

You can find Wormwood here; it’s entire archive is free to download, and I highly recommend trying an episode or two.  If you’ve listened to the show and are helplessly hooked, as I am, you can donate to the Sparrow & Crowe Kickstarter here, which contains more information on donation prizes and the project.  And, if you’d like to learn more from the creators about Wormwood, Sparrow & Crowe, or the road to creating the comic, you can check out Fuzzy Typewriter’s special Sparrow & Crowe episode.
