‘TMNT Ongoing #55:’ Comic Book Review

New York City has been crawling with heroes over the past few years. The Avengers finally came together to save us from an alien race. An all-girl Ghostbusters team is gearing up to save the city this summer. But, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will always be my favorite NYC crime fighters, and if you haven’t been reading their ongoing comic book series, now’s the time to get involved!

Last month, in TMNT #54, Mikey discovered the reality behind Hob’s secret mission, and you’ll never guess who Hob was working with! Hun! Casey Jones’ deranged father. Talk about an interesting turn of events. But, was it enough to split Hob’s Mutanimals apart? Perhaps it’s time for Mikey to go back to his own family . . .

This month, in TMNT #55, Mikey does just that! And, just in time, too, because it appears that these four brothers are about to embark on an adventure on Burnow Island where Krang was last seen. Meanwhile, Alopex and Angel try to get video footage of the Street Phantoms, but evil plans come into play when Alopex reconnects with Kitsune. Friendships are also amok between April and Casey, and only our writers know where their relationship is heading at this point.

Speaking of, I love that Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, and Tom Waltz have been keeping us entertained with this ongoing series for so long now. With so many characters, they really know how to simplify each storyline, yet still bring so much depth to the heroes we have grown to love. And, as always, this comic series wouldn’t be complete without the elaborate artwork by Michael Dialynas and colors by Ronda Pattison.

Now, onto Burnow Island, where I am sure trouble is awaiting our heroes-in-a-half-shell like pizza is always waiting for Michelangelo to eat it.

Until next month,
#TurtlePower!
