‘TMNT: Mutanimals #3’ – Advance Comic Book Review

The year is 2015. I’m still waiting on flying cars and hoverboards, but let’s at least go back in time to a few months ago. We’re in New York City, the greatest city on Earth, which also happens to be the home of our greatest heroes on Earth: the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Those following along with the current storyline know that our pizza-loving friends have lost one of their own, but that’s why we’re going back in time. Back in time to a few months ago when our Turtles needed help–from the Mutanimals!

If we remember from Mutanimals #2, Hob was desperate to discover the truth behind Null and her evil “mutagen” company, but after he leads the Mutanimals directly into a trap, it’s up to Slash and Mondo Gecko to save the gang!

This month, in Mutanimals #3, everyone is out of control!  When Slash and Mondo Gecko attempt to save their friends, Slash loses control of his temper like none of his friends have ever seen before. When Lindsey tries to call Null out on her intimidating tactics, Null shows her just how powerful (and scary) she can actually be. Even Mutagen Man (a.k.a. Seymour) loses his cool when he tampers with his own robotic body. Let’s just say that things get “overheated” before the issue is even over . . .

As always, kudos to Paul Allor for this incredibly fun storyline! I’m loving the newly introduced Mutanimals, as well as the strong motif of community. We can do very brave things when we band together! I also thoroughly enjoy Andy Kuhn’s simplistic artwork, along with coloring by Nick Filardi. As a team, this trio really knows how to put together a compelling comic book series, particularly alongside the tragic incidents of the ongoing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.

Only one more issue to go, Turtle fans! Let’s hope our Mutanimals can band together and destroy Null’s mutation lab experiments once and for all!

See you next month!

#MutantPower!
