In Volume 4 of these New Animated Adventures, April takes a trip to the zoo (and fights multiple Kraang in the meantime). Raph learns a lesson about overexerting himself. Don has a major bug problem. Mikey learns to control his focus issues. Leo finds himself in a sticky situation without his brothers. Even Splinter has his own adventure . . . with video games! And, Ice Cream Kitty—wait—Ice Cream Kitty!? Yes. Apparently, that’s a mutant I never thought I’d see . . .
Although each story is short and sweet, I commend each writer for still being able to capture us as readers in each individual storyline. Landry Q. Walker especially tells a nice tale for each of our four pizza-loving heroes. And, with a team of four artists including Dario Brizuela, David Alvarez, Chad Thomas, and Marcelo Ferreira, they really know how to make each story feel and look the same, a task not easy to accomplish. Bravo to all!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a whole new generation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to catch up on, including two and a half seasons (Nickelodeon is currently in the middle of Season 3!) to watch on TV. Looks like my 2015 is off to a busy start!
