‘Little Nemo: Return to Slumberland #3’ – Advance Comic Book Review

It’s that time of the month again, readers. No, I don’t watch Star Wars every month. (Only every other . . . ) I’m talking about Nemo’s adventures in Slumberland! Although I’m sure you’ve seen our friend, Nemo (or Jimmy, which he more prefers), in your own dreams, he’s back in Little Nemo: Return to Slumberland #3.

In last month’s issue, Nemo finally met up with the Princess of Slumberland. He also met many other odd citizens of this beautiful city, but there was one citizen we didn’t want him to meet–Flip Flap, the “Wake Up” boy! But, Flip Flap was up to his old tricks, and by the end of the issue, Slumberland was melting!

This month, Nemo finds himself back in Slumberland the moment we turn to the first page. The melting, however, has caused all Slumberland citizens to fall asleep. All except Flip Flap, of course. And, when he convinces Nemo to take an adventure inside the Tessellated Tower, they come into all sorts of trouble! But, it’s all fun and games until someone gets shrunk and attached to a live firework . . . am I right!?

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again: script writer Eric Shanower and graphic artist Gabriel Rodriguez have done a true wonder in bringing the works of Winsor McCay to life in this four-part comic book series. I never know what will happen to our little adventurer with each turn of the page, and every color by Nelson Daniel is also worth mentioning. I definitely feel like I’m reading a true work of art rather than a simple comic book.

Although I did not see a release month for the final issue of Little Nemo: Return to Slumberland, I look forward to reading the conclusion of Jimmy’s adventures! Until then . . .

Happy dreaming!
