‘Pathfinder Legends: Rise of the Runelords’ – Audio Drama Review

Pathfinder Legends is a new audio drama from Big Finish Productions that takes listeners to the town of Sandpoint for an unforgettable adventure inspired by the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. This first episode, “Burnt Offerings,” is based off the first chapter of the Pathfinder Adventure Path Rise of the Runelords and follows the iconic adventurers Harsk, Ezren, Merisiel, and Valeros as they discover a mysterious evil festering beneath the small town of Sandpoint.

Running a little over an hour in length, this follows the events of the original adventure quite faithfully, but where it really shines is in its adaptation of the iconic characters. Valeros is full of himself and a bit of a drunkard. Ezren is wise and, at times, a little too talkative. Harsk is gruff and always seems a little annoyed. Merisiel is cunning with a hint of danger and sarcasm. Even better, the main villain is terrifying and heartbreaking all at once. These performances really breathe life into this audio drama and will keep you on the edge of your seat as you travel alongside these adventurers in their quest.

Great writing, incredible audio production, and wonderful performances make this an incredible adaptation of one of Pathfinder’s best adventures. Whether you are a longtime fan of Pathfinder or just looking for a fun, new audio drama to listen to, you will definitely want to check this one out.
