Star Trek #11
by Mike Johnson and Claudia Balboni
YAY! Tribbles! So, as if Mike Johnson’s awesome Star Trek book wasn’t good enough already, this month it has Tribbles. In case you don’t know, the premise of Johnson’s book is pretty cool. Every two issues he explores how the crew from the new Star Trek reboot would deal with troubles the old crew had to deal with in the TV series. Even cooler, in these last few issues he has shifted the focus off Spock and Kirk and onto the other crew members. This month, Chekov and Mr. Scott share in the spotlight, which works well for this being a lighter story, but no worries - there is still plenty of action, and of course those Tribbles are truly troublesome. This is a great jumping on issue for this series, so if you aren’t already getting it, then pick it up this week.
Supergirl #11
by Michael Green, Mike Johnson, and Mahmud Asrar
Supergirl has been pretty good for its first two arcs, but it’s been moving at such a breakneck pace that it’s been hard to get a sense of who Kara is or where the story is going. Luckily, Green and Johnson slow things down a little in this issue. If you haven’t been reading this book, you should jump in on this issue; it’s the start of a new story that will really start to explore how Kara got here, what she wants, and what she’s going to do with her new home. Plus, Mahmud Asrar consistently delivers some of the best art in comics. Do not miss this one when you are picking up your books this week.
