Man from Space Review: In Space, No One Can Hear You Laugh!!!

Man from SpaceSpace…the final frontier. The galaxy far, far away. The Black. The place where the Alien came from. Space is an old friend of both the comic book and science-fiction genres. Still, cartoonist Marc Jackson manages to bring something completely new and original to the starry beyond: a snarky, foul-mouthed, intergalactic-traveling goldfish! If this is enough to bring a smile your face, comic book sniffers, then jump on board for the absurd and hilarious rocket trip that is the comic book Man from Space!

Man from Space is the tale of a man from space (described as “an outer-space a$$hole”) and his companion, Michael the Goldfish, and the adventure that results when Michael is allowed to drive their spaceship (SPOILER: Michael has no fingers and ends up crashing the ship into a nearby planet). From there, the epic (and bizarre) journey begins as the Man and Michael encounter various aliens, sea monsters, robots (DON’T GET THEM WET!), visits from future versions of themselves, and more! While it takes a little bit to adjust to the tone of Jackson’s story, the comic quickly establishes a zany, random, yet charming humor that never relents. Along with Jackson’s simplistic, yet bold and bright art, Man from Space ends up feeling like a cross between Harold and Kumar go to White Castle and Samurai Jack with a sci-fi twist. I also have a strong suspicion fans of Adult Swim and Monty Python will dig Jackson’s intergalactic romp, as well, and I could easily see Jackson’s story becoming a quirky and enjoyable animated television or web series down the road.

All in all, Man from Space is great fun at an affordable price! The art is exciting and energizing, the humor is off-kilter and fresh, and, most importantly, the characters are fantastic! If you possess a sense of humor, then don’t hesitate to pick this book up!

For more information about Man From Space, you can check out the comic’s official Facebook page, and follow Marc Jackson on Twitter (@itsMANFROMSPACE). You can secure a copy of Man from Space at www.Manfromspace.co.uk or from the digital distributor, Graphicly.

That’s all for now, comic book sniffers! Keep your robots and control panels dry and be sure to schedule a lunar launch with Man from Space!

‘Till the end of the world,
