Project #1: Sold Movie Screening in North Hollywood, CA
What it's about: Sold is a story of hope and a call to action against Human Trafficking. Executive produced by Emma Thompson, directed by Academy Award-winner Jeffrey D. Brown, and starring Gillian Anderson, this crowdfunded movie sheds light on a subject we’ve all heard about but have never really understood. The goal is to host a screening of this movie at Laemmle’s NoHo 7 theater in North Hollywood, CA, in hopes to raise awareness. As part of the evening, Jacqueline Grace Lopez has joined forces with CAST Los Angeles, a local non-profit organization, to have a special Q & A following the movie to talk about how human trafficking affects us in Los Angeles and what we can do to stop it. The catch is NONE of this happens without your help. The movie is distributed by Tugg.com, a distribution platform that works much like Kickstarter.
In order to confirm the theater booking and movie, Jacqueline need to reach a threshold of 46 tickets reserved by May 30th. Her project is to ask for people to reserve tickets for themselves or for friends and attend the screening. Each ticket is $12 dollars.
The coolest backer reward: Apart from attending the movie or gifting someone an incredible evening, there are also levels of contribution where proceeds will go directly to benefit organizations fighting against human trafficking. One of the perks is the grand honcho at the $100 level. As Jacqueline has put this evening together herself, she had to think big, so people who contribute at the $100 level get the perk of a personalized gift basket. Each basket comes with a haiku and assorted items she thought might brighten your life. (This is not a joke! She's getting baskets this weekend!)
