Geeks Care: How You Can Help The Children’s Tumor Foundation with Cupid’s Undie Run

When Fanboy Comics is not providing you with the latest in geek news and entertainment, the FBC staff hopes to offer our readers a myriad of opportunities to give back to the community. We love reading comics, watching movies, and playing video games, but we are never happier than when we are able to help others in need. With Geeks Care: How You Can Help, FBC will provide you a variety of causes that would greatly appreciate your time.

Here at Fanboy Comics, we don’t mind being a little saucey, as long as it’s all in good fun, or for a good cause.  In the case of today’s installment of Geeks Care: How You Can Help, FBC Contributor J.C. Ciesielski is getting downright “cheeky” as he is preparing to participate in the 2015 Cupid’s Undie Run to raise money for The Children’s Tumor Foundation.  What, you may ask, is the Cupid’s Undie Run?  Well, it’s a marathon . . . outside . . . in February . . . in Pittsburgh, PA . . . and, wait for it . . . everyone is in their undies.   These are brave souls who are baring their all for a good cause, folks!  J.C. has been a dedicated contributor to Fanboy Comics for quite a few years, and we want to join him in educating our readers about this important organization.

The Children’s Tumor Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to finding effective treatments for the millions of people worldwide living with neurofibromatosis (NF). NF causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body and can lead to blindness, bone abnormalities, cancer, deafness, disfigurement, learning disabilities, and excruciating and disabling pain.  NF affects one in every 3,000 people, more than cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and Huntington’s disease combined. The Children’s Tumor Foundation funds critical research into neurofibromatosis. In addition to benefiting those who live with NF, this research is shedding new light on several forms of cancer, brain tumors, bone abnormalities, and learning disabilities, ultimately benefiting the broader community.

J.C. is on a mission to get some “exposure” for NF research, and he’ll do whatever it takes, even if that means stripping to his skivvies!

For those interested in making a donation to J.C.’s Cupid’s Undie Run team, readers may visit his Donation page on the official website. Be sure to scan through the rest of the website, as well, to learn more about The Children’s Tumor Foundation and how you can help the organization throughout the year!

We salute you, J.C., and may you have lots of hot chocolate waiting for you at the finish line!

If you have a volunteer opportunity or an important cause that could use the assistance of a few geeks, please email the details to barbra (at) fanboycomics.net.
