Comic book publisher Dark Horse Comics' continuations of Joss Whedon’s cult favorites (Serenity, Buffy, and Angel & Faith) remain some of the most-talked-about comics in today’s market. In Dark Horse's Whedonversity panel, attendees heard the latest details on the upcoming arcs of both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Serenity: Leaves on the Wind from the creative teams themselves. The panel featured Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 10 writer Christos Gage and Serenity: Leaves on the Wind writer Zack Whedon and artist Georges Jeanty, providing fans with an inside look at their creative processes while doing their best to answer the fans' curiosity as to where the Whedonverse is headed next. The panelists fielded questions from the audience, which included a discussion of whether Serenity: Leaves on the Wind will continue after its current six-issue run, the creators feelings towards the character of Dawn Summers, and, most importantly, and explanation of what "Shipping" is for the benefit of Zack Whedon.
The highlight of the panel came from Dark Horse Comics' Publicist Aub Driver, who announced that an original graphic novel, written by James Marsters, would be released in July of 2014 featuring Buffy fan favorite, Spike.
All in all, the panel provided fans in attendance with not only an inside look at the minds of their favorite comic books' creators, but the opportunity to join together in celebrating their geek pride for and admiration in all things Joss Whedon.
