The Kickstarter Report: ‘Sweethearts of the Galaxy’

Sweethearts of the GalaxyLook!  It’s a bird!  It’s a plane!  It’s the Sweethearts of the Galaxy!  If you are as big of a fan of cosplay as I am, you will not want to miss the Kickstarter campaign for Sweethearts of the Galaxy, a new web series starring well-known cosplayers Kit Quinn and Tallest Silver (a.k.a. Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy) which celebrates costume play, and its avid participants, in all of their glory.  In the series, Quinn and Silver will portray Katelyn (Trinity Infinity) and Silvia (Element 47), two cosplayers enjoying their convention experience until a nasty head injury convinces Katelyn that she is, in fact, a superhero!  (Whether actual superpowers will accompany this new identity remains to be seen. Viewers must stay tuned to the web series!)  If you have ever wished that your bed sheet cape magically transformed you into a real superhero, then this is the web series for you!

If successfully funded, the web series will comprise of nine episodes (each lasting for seven to ten minutes in duration), telling a complete story from beginning to end, as Silvia recreates comic book scenarios to get Katelyn through her daily life post-identity crisis.  Comedy will ensue when going to the ATM becomes hacking a weapons console, driving a friend to a job interview turns into the capture of a supervillain, and going to work is going undercover.  This is a web series which is truly made by fans for fans (of cosplay), as Kit Quinn and Tallest Silver designed and created their own costumes.  Sweethearts of the Galaxy was created and developed by Dexter Adriano and Michael Premsrirat.

To see a preview of the web series, along with an interview of the stars, check out the below video.

Be sure to visit the Sweethearts of the Galaxy Kickstarter page, and don’t forget to check out the backer rewards, which include Blu-ray and DVD copies of the entire series, admission to Big Wow! in San Jose for a special preview of the series, an on-set visit during filming, a custom-made costume and a role in the series, and a private home screening!  These are only a handful of the amazing rewards available and more will be added throughout the campaign.  The campaign closes on Sunday, March 31st, so be sure to donate soon!
