Tread Perilously – ‘Doctor Who: The Three Doctors’

Tread Perilously is a podcast in which hosts Erik Amaya and author Justin Robinson watch the “worst” episodes of popular TV shows, attempting to determine if they would continue to watch the series based on the most off-key moments.

This Week: Doctor Who‘s “The Three Doctors”

Tread Perilously‘s anniversary tour with Doctor Who makes its way to “The Three Doctors,” itself a special Doctor Who occasion – celebrating ten years on the air.

When The (Third) Doctor is assailed by creatures that look like melted candies, he seeks out aid from the Time Lords. But as they are also under assault from a force outside conventional space, they send the only help they can: the Doctor himself. Pulling the Second and First Doctors from their timestreams, the three face the might of Omega, the Gallifreyan scientist who gave the Time Lords the energy required to travel through time. Will the three Doctors be able to talk some sense into the clearly mad Omega and save the universe?

Erik and Justin discuss the pronunciation of “Omega.” They are also completely convinced an experimental Soviet aircraft crash-landed in Roswell in 1946. Jo’s fashions choices once again receive high marks. They also determine how to best harvest fur from Muppets. A discussion of the Third Doctor’s various cars leads to an argument about Han Solo tricking out a swoop bike. Erik gets winded while trying to imitate Dom DeLuise while Justin notes the terrible military tactics of Sergeant Benton.
