The art of filmmaking is a long and arduous process. The creative journey involved in producing a film, including writing, casting, filming, scoring, and editing, can take months - and sometimes years - to complete. That is why the creators and contestants involved in The 48-Hour Film Project are nothing short of amazing.
The 48-Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which teams of contestants make movies—write, shoot, edit, and score it—in just 48 hours. Starting on a Friday evening, each team receives a character, a prop, a line of dialogue, and a genre, all to include in their movie. 48 hours later, the movie must be complete. Following the weekend of intense work, the contestants have the chance to watch the fruits of their labor in a screening of all of the contestants films. In 2012, over 50,000 filmmakers made almost 4,000 films in 120 cities on 6 continents around the world. Since The 48-Hour Film Project's creation in 2001, over 19,000 films have been made by 278,000 people.
