Blastoff ComicsFest will be the place to be for Free Comic Book Day, with comic book creators from Marvel, DC, IDW Publishing, Image, Dark Horse, and more on hand to sign comics, provide free sketches, and meet with comic book fans in the beautiful Southern California sun! Of course, the friendly folks of Fanbase Press will also be in attendance with lots of great comics, graphic novels, and other items available for attendees (in addition to free sketches)!
In addition, you won’t want to miss the special ticketed event, Hollywood Writer’s Roundtable, which will feature Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance, Umbrella Academy), screenwriter Carl Gottlieb (Jaws, The Jerk), director Nicholas Meyer (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek VI: The Voyage Home), Executive Producer Quinton Peeples (Netflix’s Iron Fist), writer Brigitte Hales (Hulu's 11/22/63, Once Upon a Time), and writer Jim Krueger (The High Cost of Happily Ever After, Justice) discussing issues associated with comic books and genre literature increasingly becoming the most popular source for television and movies. The panel will be moderated by Michael Stradford, Director of Enhanced Content for Warner Home Entertainment, and tickets are available here.
Start your ComicsFest at The Federal Bar, where outdoor grills, a delicious dessert truck, and an inviting beer garden will be at your service all day! Then, allow the costumed superheroes to “fly” you to the nearby Laemmle Noho 7 Theatre and Blastoff Comics’ retail store, where you can take home stacks of free comics and other goodies.
Admission for Blastoff ComicsFest is FREE, so be sure to mark your calendars!
