Fanboy Comics Announces Rebranding as Fanbase Press

LOS ANGELES, CA – April 4, 2016 – Comic book publisher and online media outlet Fanboy Comics is excited to announce that it will be renamed and rebranded as Fanbase Press on May 2, 2016.  This company-wide effort reflects both Fanboy Comics’ existing strategy to provide support and empowerment for all creators, as well as its vision for a more inclusive, positive, and equitable creative community.

Fanbase%20Press%20LogoPRUSESince 2010, Fanboy Comics has published creator-owned graphic novels, providing an outlet for up-and-coming artists and writers with a desire to create new works and media.  In addition, as an online media outlet, the company has supported both seasoned and independent creators and fans through daily reviews, interviews, and podcasts, creating a platform for greater visibility and a welcoming hub for the celebration of all fandoms.

Under the leadership of husband-and-wife team Bryant and Barbra Dillon, the rebranded Fanbase Press will evolve to include a diverse slate of creator-owned projects that will appeal to readers of various ages and genres, as well as an expansion of its editorial content to offer greater opportunities for creator support and promotion.

“Working with Barbra and Bryant has always been a professional highlight for me,” notes Jennifer Canzoneri, Marketing Director of BenBella Books, Inc.  “They’re passionate, incredibly hardworking, and, most of all, truly generous. They are sure to launch Fanbase Press to much success, and I look forward to cheering them along as they do so.”

Through its publishing division, Fanbase Press’ upcoming titles will include:

  • The Margins (Facebook / Twitter @TheMarginsComics), a graphic novel written by David Accampo (Sparrow & Crowe, Lost Angels) and Paul Montgomery (Wormwood: A Serialized Mystery, Panels.net) and illustrated by newcomer Amanda Donahue.  In The Margins, artist Charley Keo’s new gig begins as a fun challenge to breathe new life into the forgotten pulp world of Elad–this time as a comic book. But as tendrils of this lost realm creep into her sleepy Portland neighborhood, Charley realizes that Elad is much more than the lines on a day-dreamt map, more than the sum of an old hack’s prose. Elad has its hooks in Charley, and what was once fantasy has become deadly reality for both the artist and the woman she loves;

  • The eighth and final issue of Penguins vs. Possums (Twitter @pvpcomic), the comic book series by Sebastian Kadlecik, John Bring, and Lindsay Calhoon Bring, which will bring the age-old war between the two species to its epic conclusion; and

  • The audio drama adaptation of The Odds (Twitter @TheOddsAD), a post-apocalyptic action-comedy novel written by Robert J. Peterson and published by California Coldblood Books (an imprint of Rare Bird Books).

With an unflinching dedication to quality stories and stunning visuals, I’m always excited to pick up a Fanbase comic,” says writer Mairghread Scott (Marvel Universe Guardians of the Galaxy, Toil and Trouble).

Fanbase Press’ online media division, which recently expanded to include Editorials Manager Michele Brittany, will continue to diversify its promotional efforts for creators with an upcoming interview series led by Senior Contributor Kristine Chester that highlights creators from the LGBTQ community, as well as through the featured #CrowdfundingFridays and #GeeksCare series which promote currently running crowdfunding campaigns and worthwhile charitable efforts, respectively.

“Fanboy Comics always represented what’s best about comic book/pop culture journalism. I’m supremely confident that the newly expansive Fanbase Press will continue that tradition and open up a whole new world of reportage, cultural outreach, and, of course, charitable initiatives to a wider, more diverse audience. And from what I’ve seen so far (Spoilers!), their new slate of comics and graphic novels are going to knock your socks off,” comments Jud Meyers, co-owner of Blastoff Comics in North Hollywood, CA.

Starting on May 2, 2016, all of Fanboy Comics’ content will move to the new Fanbase Press website, which will be found at www.FanbasePress.com.
