The Katniss Chronicles and LA Band Heart of Gold to Release “Rue’s Lullaby!”

LOS ANGELES, CA – February 1, 2012
– The creators of The Katniss Chronicles and Los Angeles-area rock band Heart of Gold will be releasing a new recording of the song “Rue’s Lullaby” on Tuesday, February 7, 2012.

“Rue’s Lullaby” is a tragically beautiful song referenced in Suzanne Collins’ bestselling book trilogy, The Hunger Games.  The song is a gentle lullaby sung by the story’s protagonist, Katniss Everdeen, to her dying friend.  The song will be included in Episode 12 of The Katniss Chronicles on February 7, featuring a melody created by Heart of Gold’s Scott Emerson and sung by Chronicles actress Barbra Dillon. Additionally, the members of Heart of Gold provided their musical talents to produce and record their own version of the tune, which will be released as bonus material.

As Los Angeles indie music darlings, Heart of Gold is a band like no other.  Established in 2006 by four amazingly talented musicians [Scott Emerson, Edward LaBarbera, Christopher Spilsbury, and Tiffany LaBarbera (Palmer)], the band fuses folk and rock to create a complex sound that is bursting with emotion.  Their recent album, The Burning West, sets a single, encompassing narrative within the hills of Kentucky and the surreal wonderland of Los Angeles.

Adapted from The Hunger Games, The Katniss Chronicles: Part I is an unofficial and unauthorized fan-created audio drama that allows listeners to experience the story of Katniss Everdeen, the Girl on Fire, in this ongoing 17-episode production.  Made purely for entertainment, this audio drama is created by fans, for fans.

All episodes are available for online listening and download free of charge at www.thekatnisschronicles.com and on iTunes.

Interested fans may visit The Katniss Chronicles’ website for more episodes and bonus material, as well as the Heart of Gold website, heartofgoldonline.com, for information regarding their upcoming performance and tour schedule.  Additional information can be found on Facebook and Twitter (@KatnissChron / @HOGonline).
