Fanboy Comics’ Sam Rhodes to Step Down as Creative Director

LOS ANGELES, CA – September 30, 2015 – After serving as Founding Creative Director of Fanboy Comics (FBC) for the past five years, Sam Rhodes will step down from the position effective immediately.     

Rhodes, who graduated from Point Park University in 2005 with a B.F.A. in Theatre Arts, joined colleagues Barbra and Bryant Dillon in founding Fanboy Comics in 2010.  Together, their joint efforts gave way to a comic book publishing company and an online community that supports other creators and fans through daily reviews, interviews, and podcasts that span the pop culture spectrum. 

Rhodes provided a critical role in launching the company, as he and Bryant Dillon were the co-writers of Fanboy Comics’ first graphic novel, Something Animal.  His expertise in audio production encouraged the growth of FBC’s podcasting network, which now encompasses seven ongoing shows, including The Fanboy Scoop: Week in Review, which will soon celebrate its 200th episode.  In addition to his work with Fanboy Comics, Rhodes also served as the director, editor, an executive producer, and co-writer of The Katniss Chronicles, an award-winning, fan-created audio drama adaptation of The Hunger Games book series which aired for 3 consecutive years.

“Sam has been a dear friend for nearly 15 years, and he was vital in making Fanboy Comics a reality,” says FBC Managing Editor Barbra Dillon.  “I am grateful to have worked so closely with him, and I value the ability to see the manifestation of his immense efforts throughout the years.”

Following his departure from Fanboy Comics, Rhodes will continue to pursue opportunities in audio production and acting.

“In addition to his skills and experience in the comic book and publishing worlds, Sam is an amazingly talented performer and an adept and proficient audio engineer,” says FBC President Bryant Dillon.  “We’re certain he’ll find the kind of success and recognition in these new arenas in the same way that he did with Fanboy Comics.”

FBC is committed to its mission to provide an outlet for up-and-coming artists and writers with a desire to create new works and media.
