The ‘Star Trek Enterprise’ Captain’s Chair Could Be Yours!

Dear Fanboy Comics Readers:

It is not often that we have the opportunity to own a piece of cinematic history (from the big or small screen).  Compound that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with the fact that said piece of history will make you feel like the the master of space, speeding through the stars on an adventure that you won’t soon forget, and it is safe to say that you will probably want to give this opportunity a look.

Our friends at the Star Trek Enterprise-D Bridge Restoration Project are auctioning off a plethora of prop replicas; however, the pièce de résistance‎ is the first Captain’s Chair, the proceeds of which will be going to their New Starship Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3).  The folks behind the Restoration Project have been taking the chair to conventions around the United States since San Diego Comic-Con 2013, and it has been sat in by thousands of people, including Star Trek actors Denise Crosby, Gates McFadden, Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, Armin Shimerman, Robert Picardo, Tim Russ, Firefly‘s Jewel Staite, Buck Rogers‘ Gil Gerard, Battlestar Galactica‘s Richard Hatch, Weird Al Yankovic, Grant Imahara, Bruce Campbell, and, of course, the great Stan Lee. It also was used in the web series STAR TREK RENEGADES.

When the Bridge Restoration Project first obtained the Star Trek Enterprise-D Bridge set, which was built by Paramount in 1998 for touring, the Captain’s Chair had been left outside for 5 years with the wood rotted and material ripped and weathered. They took the measurements, perfected the chair to look as close to the TV show as possible, and took it on the road for fans to sit in and take photos.

This is certainly not a moment to be missed for any Trek fan, and more information regarding the Star Trek Enterprise-D Bridge Restoration Project may be found by visiting newstarship.com.
