Justified S4E9That. Was. Awesome.

In the past two weeks on Justified, we’ve had the reveal of the season-long mystery of Drew Thompson’s identity and last week’s moving of the plot’s chessboard setting up the remaining three episodes.  The table was set for all kinds of shenanigans to go down in Harland County.  Last night’s edition didn’t disappoint.

Dear Fanboy Comics Readers:

With the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Blu-ray and DVD today, Warner Bros. has generously provided Fanboy Comics with a copy of the Blu-ray Combo Pack to give away to our loyal readers.

J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic adventure follows the journey of Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an amazing quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Sorcerers.

Avatar The Search Part 1While the cartoon was largely self-contained, there were a few loose ends left by The Last Airbender, one of the largest of which is what happened to Zuko's mother, Ursa. The Search sets Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, and Azula on a quest to learn the truth and possibly repair Zuko's broken family.

Mind MGMT 9Matt Kindt’s Mind MGMT is still my favorite comic out there. The story is so multi-layered and fantastical that every issue earns your complete attention. I have found myself devoting more energy to unraveling every detail of this comic than anything else I’m reading. This is as much to see these deeply flawed and fascinating characters as to witness the revelations that show up on nearly every page of this incredible comic. Every issue that I have read is like the best episodes of Lost, without the negative baggage that the show piled up toward the end.

Judge Dredd 1Judge Dredd Year One is not a typical year one comic; Dredd doesn't suck at his job. This might seem like a silly thing to mention, and longtime Dredd readers will simply shrug and say, “Of course, he doesn’t; he was designed to be good at his job. Do you even Wikipedia, bro?”

GI Joe 2This is the G.I. Joe book I’ve been waiting for. This book has it all: Joes kicking butt, witty banter, methodical villains plotting evil schemes, and, of course, tons of explosions. Fred Van Lente and Steve Kurth have delivered the perfect combination of action, humor, and drama to make any ordinary Joe happy.
